ESPN Analyst Troy Aikman Jokes He’s in Trouble for Giving Taylor Swift Nickname During Chiefs Game

All they keep asking Travis Kelce is if Taylor Swift’s gonna be his bride.
And while no one can predict what the future might hold, there has been no charming—if a little gauche—wedding for the pair so far. Which is why ESPN analyst Troy Aikman admitted he needs to be careful with his words after giving Taylor a particular nickname on live TV during her appearance at Travis’ Oct. 7 NFL game.
During the second quarter, after the camera cut to Taylor smiling at a particularly good play by her guy on the Chiefs, Troy said, “The Mrs. likes it.”
Which prompted his partner Joe Buck to note, “You know they’re not married, right?”
And because Troy did indeed know, he jokingly added, “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”
Because while both Taylor and Travis have been very public with their relationship and love for each other, they also have a legion of loyal fans ready to defend the pair against anything that looks like trouble.
“I mean, it happens,” Joe added to Troy. “My daughters have warned me multiple times today, ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny. Don’t make any jokes.’”
But there was nothing but love for the Grammy winner as she once again appeared in the Chiefs’ stands at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium after missing the team’s previous two away games.
And Travis wasn’t the only Kelce family member happy to see Taylor again. Jason Kelce—who recently became a Monday Night Football analyst after retiring from the Philadelphia Eagles—had some sweet words for his brother’s girlfriend when she arrived at the game.
"Hey, look at that now," Jason said in a clip shared to X when the camera cut to Taylor. "That looks good."
And it’s not the only time the former NFL player has commented on Travis’ relationship during the Chiefs game. Ahead of the Oct. 7 face off with the New Orleans Saints, Jason took a moment to address rumors that his brother’s “slow start” to the season was because he was distracted by his relationship.
“Now he’s enjoying his life very publicly,” Jason said of his brother on-air. “Everything he does, and everything our family does, is very much out there. And that’s just the nature of the way it is right now. Listen Trav—this is a guy that’s always found a way to show up in the peak physical shape.”
He continued, “I know optics are that he is all over the place—and that's not just optics that's reality. But he still keeps the main thing the main thing. Football has always been the main thing in Trav’s life.”
The New Heights podcast co-host also spoke to his brother’s off-season activities.
“He has always lived his life to the fullest,” Jason added, before joking, “He has always enjoyed his off seasons very much. Even before Taylor Swift and everything else that was going on in our lives."
But he always has faith in his brother. "I know it's been a slow start for him," he admitted. "Trav is always gonna find a way to show up and show out. It's only a matter of time before he gets back."
And for more on Taylor’s many NFL appearances, keep reading.
